Educational Objectives:
This programme fosters high-level research talents who can adapt the social and scientific developments in the 21st century and satisfy the needs of national modernization development. Through the study students are also expected to possess a noble moral character, profound foundation knowledge of the relevant disciplines, innovation and research abilities, excellent comprehending ability, open international perspectives, and strong innovative and competitive spirits.

Objective 7:[Lifelong Learning] Graduates majored in Chemical Engineering and Technology can engage in scientific research both in the traditional chemical industry of chemical reaction engineering, mass transfer and separation engineering, nd also in the related fields of bio-chemical, environmental chemicals, fine chemicals, energetic chemical and polymeric chemical to engage in new products, new technology research and development. Graduates are expected to have the skills of lifelong learning.
Programme Features:
This programme has two major features. Firstly, it has wide coverage including organic chemicals, inorganic chemicals, fine chemicals, household chemicals, materials chemicals, energy chemicals, biology chemicals, microelectronics chemicals, etc. Potential jobs cover all types of sectors in relation to national economy, including chemical engineering, medicine, energy and materials. Secondly, the programme has distinctive and strong engineering features which encourage knowledge transfer from theories to practices. As for the fundamental knowledge framework, we combine chemical engineering with chemical technology. Chemical engineering is one of the strong fields of the university, and with such as base the chemical engineering part of the programme has the advantage in equipping students with the knowledge and skills to tackle common problems in chemical engineering by focusing on the development, design, optimization and management of chemical engineering process and equipment. Meanwhile, chemical technology involves mainly the production by using oil, coal, natural gas, minerals, flora and fauna, other natural resources as raw materials. These engineering technologies involve not only chemical engineering, but also relate to the fields of medicine, materials, food, biological engineering and many other related fields. Thus, students of this programme are expected to have strong engineering design capabilities and working flexibility.
Educational Requirement:
The students of this specialty should master the basic theory of chemical disciplines, knowledge, the abilities of analyzing and solving practical problems; obtain the basic capacity of the chemical process development, design and construction, by receiving training of preliminary scientific research methods; understand the scientific advances of the professional and the new knowledge in the adjacent disciplines.
