Educational Objectives:
Objective 1: [Foundations] Students are cultivated with a good knowledge of music theory, harmony, solfeggio, as well as history of Chinese and western music. They should be equipped with basic performing skills and a good professional foundation which helps to improve professional competence.
Objective 2: [Professional Balance] Students are trained to analyze, and interpret artistic works, and reflect them with excellent performance.
Objective 3: [Teamwork/Leadership] Through in-class discussion and symposiums, students are trained to develop good cooperating skills.
Objective 4: [Engineered Systems] Students are expected to have a correct understanding of the role Music Performance plays in the society, contribute to the social construction of spiritual civilization, arts and cultural development with their expertise.
Objective 5: [Societal Impact] Students are supposed to have global cooperating skills, open eyesight, and a close attention of the world developing trend.
Objective 6: [Lifelong Learning] Musical performance is a highly demanding major with continuously updating techniques. Students are requested to obtain more knowledge on the basis of a solid professional foundation, such as the knowledge of artistic art analysis, aesthetics of music, composing songs and computer aided music. Thus they possess lifelong learning ability.
Programme Features:
Making full use of the comprehensiveness the university has, in terms of culture, scientific and technological resources, students are encouraged to learn from other social and natural science fields, which would make them differ from, and hence have the advantage over, other professional art school students. We will reinforce the 3 +2 teaching methods, and strive to cultivate students with wide range of knowledge, strong adaptability, and cross-ability; We will also emphasize practical training, and establish professional characteristics of solid foundation, broader vision, extensiveness, and refinement. Professional art education has a huge impact on the teaching methods and quality of the university's general courses in art, providing students with a high-quality space for art appreciation.
