Educational Objectives:
To cultivate the professional and comprehensive dancers with a sense of competition, spirit of innovation and practical ability. After graduation, our students will be able to take an important part in performing, teaching, organizing or planning in the professional arts performing group, cultural institution, educational system or cultural sectors.

Specialty Features:
Based on the general advantages of SCUT, we aim to create the programme as a art major based on a set of comprehensive disciplines. The programme aims to cultivate artistic talents with comprehensive, contemporary and compound qualities. They are expected to adapt to the requirements of socialism developments and culture construction.
Based on the general education guideline of the first-level first descipline, we develop a 3+2 scheme (i.e. three second-level majors including music, music performance and dancing). We have taken the advantages in vocal and instrumental music which strengthening the majors of dance composing and performance. We construct the professional system of artistic disciplines with reasonable structure, solid foundation, distinctive character and coordinated development.
Educational Requirement:
The objective system of each course is composed of a corresponding set of cultivation purposes, which are the appropriate knowledge, ability and quality that students are supposed to gain.
Knowledge Structure
A1 Fundamental knowledge of literature, history, philosophy and art;

Dance basic training (including classical ballet, Chinese folk dance, eastern dance, classical dance, classical dance rhythm, and modern dance), dance repertoire, and dance composing, Chinese and foreign dance history, culture of folk dance, dance conspectus, art conspectus, sports anatomy, folk music conspectus, basic music theory.
