On February 27, Best Chinese Universities Rankings (BCUR) 2017 was released by Shanghai Ranking Consultancy, presenting the top 500 Chinese universities in its view to the public.
This is the third time since BCUR was first published in 2015, and South China University of Technology (SCUT) has been on the leading part of the list for three consecutive years, showing a steady development with its ranking improved from the 22nd place in 2015 to this year’s 19th place.
According to Shanghai Ranking Consultancy, BCUR presents sequential rankings of Chinese universities according to factors in four dimensions: teaching and learning, research, social service and internationalization.
It uses nine indicators to rate a university, including quality of incoming students, education outcome, scale of research, quality of research, top research achievements, top scholars, technology service, technology transfer, as well as international student ratio.
Dedicating to researches on higher education intelligence and consultation, Shanghai Ranking Consultancy also develops and publishes other annual rankings such as the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) and the Academic Ranking of World Universities by Broad Subject Fields (ARWU-FIELD).
