21 SCUT scholars among China’s most cited researchers in 2016

On February 27, Elsevier published its list of the Most Cited Chinese Researchers 2016, recognizing 1776 Chinese researchers in 38 research areas as the top researchers to influence the world. The number increased by 32 compared to last year.
 
21 SCUT scholars in 11 research areas were included in the list, placing SCUT at the 14th place among universities of mainland China.
 
During recent years, SCUT has been stepping up efforts to improve the mechanism and policies in managing scientific research and technology development, while it kept promoting research staff to pay greater attention to the quality of scientific innovation.
 
It is known that the number of academic papers done by SCUT scholars published on SCI, EI and CPCI-S journals has exceeded 13,000 over the past three years.
 
The data of the Most Cited Chinese Researchers List 2016 was drawn from the Preferred Abstract and Citation Database across Asia (Scopus) of Elsevier, one of the world’s largest abstract and citation databases of peer-reviewed literature. Scopus delivers a comprehensive overview of the world's research literature, authors and research institutions, which provides the possibility to analyze and evaluate world influence of Chinese scholars in a scientific manner.
 
Based on objective cited data, systematic analysis of the list was conducted by adopting methods and criteria developed by Shanghai Ranking Consultancy, while the partner Elsevier provided data support and technical implementation.
