SCUT and the Tianhe District Government on March 30 laid the foundation for the SCUT Affiliated Tianhe Hospital.
This will be the first affiliated hospital that is newly built by SCUT, marking a historical milestone in the university’s unremitting efforts of promoting and developing medical science.
Heads of SCUT and the Tianhe District Government poured earth on the foundation that was laid at the Kemu Langgui Ridge. Among them included Secretary of the CPC SCUT Committee Zhang Xichun, Secretary of the CPC Tianhe District Committee Lin Daoping, and Tianhe District Governor Chen Jiameng.
The joint project aims to build a first-class general hospital that will be able to perform multiple social and educational functions, including providing medical and health services, preventing disease, training students and conducting scientific research.
It is also an experimental attempt to develop new patterns of government-university collaboration. The hospital is directly affiliated to SCUT, which deals with hospital operation and personnel management, while the district authority is responsible for providing lands, as well as constructing buildings and installing supporting infrastructures.
