SCUT is looking forward to strengthening its partnership with the Ingolstadt University of Applied Science (Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt, THI), Germany, by working together on the Confucius Institute program and other academic aspects.
Professor Peter Augsdörfer, German Director of the Audi Confucius Institute (Audi Konfuzius Institut Ingolstadt, AKII), paid a visit to SCUT on December 14, when Professor Qiu Xueqing, Vice President of SCUT, met with him at the Shaw Building of Humanities.
The two universities shared a view that the AKII program, except for being a bridge of language and culture between SCUT and THI, and even between China and Germany, will also be a vital platform for exploring possibilities of collaboration in technology transfer and academic cooperation.
During the visit, Professor Augsdörfer also had conversations with faculty members of a few SCUT’s sub-schools and discussed multiple cooperative issues, including student internship programs and joint research programs, as well as strengthening AKII’s faculty team.
The AKII program, which celebrated its opening in this May, was launched by SCUT, the Audi AG, the municipal government of Ingolstadt, and THI. Named after the Audi AG, a world-famous automobile brand with its headquarters in Ingolstadt, AKII is the 18th Confucius Institute in Germany, and the world’s first Confucius Institute that involves a multinational enterprise and the local government as main sponsors.
SCUT is now running three Confucius Institutes with overseas partners. The other two are the Lancaster University Confucius Institute in the UK, and the University of Idaho Confucius Institute in the US.
