Students of the Class 2015 that are graduating from the School of Design this month celebrated the opening of their graduation exhibition at the University Town Campus on June 6.
There were 193 undergraduates presenting over 300 graduation works in various forms such as intelligent wheelchairs, multi-purpose home appliances, concept vehicles, exquisite hand paintings, and potteries in unique shapes, which involved design ideas for industrial purposes, environmental art, public art, dressing fashion, and ceramic art.
Zhu Min, Vice President of SCUT, said on the opening ceremony that the exhibits reflected students’ perceptions and understanding of art and life, while they all shared a common courage of expressing ideas genuinely.
Many of these works were to solve real problems in daily life with innovations in ideas, techniques, and even marketing. For example, a hanging cooking appliance, which was able to perform multiple cooking tasks by switching between different modes, was introduced as an effort of saving space and providing convenience in kitchens.
The exhibition is now open at three venues of SCUT’s Contemporary Art Center in the University Town Campus until June 16. Visitors can find Venue A at the Grand Lecture Hall, Venue B at Teaching Building A4, and Venue C at Teaching Building A5.
