SCUT is strengthening ties with the University of Applied Sciences Ingolstadt, Germany, to promote student training and research cooperation, based upon the partnership of co-running a Confucius Institute program.

Professor Walter Schober, President of the University of Applied Sciences Ingolstadt (Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt, THI), paid a visit to SCUT on November 16, and held a meeting with Professor Qiu Xueqing, Vice President of SCUT, to discuss details of further cooperation.

Qiu Xueqing summarized that SCUT and THI, with support from China’s Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban), have built a concrete relation that is linked by efforts at the Audi Confucius Institute Ingolstadt (Audi Konfuzius Institut Ingolstadt, AKII).

The program developed a solid start for the two universities to carry out scientific research and academic exchanges in the future, especially in fields of mechanical and automotive engineering, manufacturing, and virtual reality.

Walter Schober said in the meeting that THI values SCUT as a vital partner, and he looked forward to seeing multiple forms of further cooperation, including joint programs of master’s degree, academic work shops, visiting programs for teachers, as well as short-term research programs for graduate students.

THI is also expected to coordinate between SCUT and the Audi AG, a world-famous automobile brand with its headquarters in Ingolstadt, to advance university-enterprise collaboration.

The AKII was co-established by SCUT, THI, the Audi AG, and the municipal government of Ingolstadt in 2016. It is so far the world’s only Confucius Institute that is co-sponsored by enterprise and government organizations.
