Educational Objectives:
The major places special emphasis on training and cultivating comprehensive senior talents working in design, research, testing, evaluation, supervision and management of Safety Engineering.
Objective 1: [solid fundamental knowledge] to make the students master the basic knowledge of solid basic professional principles, methods and means and make preparation for applying the learned basic knowledge into the practice of safety science and engineering by contacting and mastering the advanced methods of R&D, design, analysis,evaluation, inspecting , managing and so on in the field of safety engineering.
Objective 2: [ability to solve problems] to use safety science and engineering principles creatively to solve the problems happened in preventing and controlling the industrial accidents.
Objective 3: [team-work and leadership] to communicate and cooperate in a team, and then have the leadership in the safety science and engineering.

Objective 7: [lifelong learning] The Safety Engineering graduates are capable of various occupations, including safety supervisory administration, technical supervisory administration, public safety administration, fire control administration, commodity inspection administration , customs inspection,large-scale corporation,scientific research institutions, colleges and universities, safety technology facilitating agency, undertaking work including safety research, safety design and evaluation, safety supervisory, safety education, risk management, etc. the graduates should have the ability of lifelong learning.

As the new discipline, the course programme of Safety Engineering includes a wide range of subjects and also flexible training sessions. Students have the chance to not only master the basic knowledge of technical theory of the fields of System Safety Engineering, Information Theory, System Theory, Control Theory. It combines the safety management and technology, emphasizing the practice of basic training and cultivatesthe training of senior talents working in design, research, testing, evaluation, supervision and management of Safety Engineering.
Educational Requirement:
(1):Requirements on knowledge
Master mechanisms and laws of the accidents from the perspectives of social science and natural science, statistical studies of accidents, accident preventions and basic engineering technology and management means after losing control of the accidents; grasp the basic knowledge of Safety Engineering laws and regulations.
(2)Requirments on ability
Have the ability to research, design, and apply the Safety Engineering technologies and management methods; have the skills of supervising.
(3)Requriments on engineering
Master accident preventions and basic engineering technology and management means after losing control of the accidents; have the ability to research, design,  consulate, supervise and apply the Safety Engineering technology and management methods; have the skills of practicing.
(4)Other requirements
Understand the notion of Responsible Care in taking the initiate to improve health, safty and environmental conditions; follow the major principles of Responsible Care.
