Educational Objectives:
The programme aims to cultivate students to be all-round development in morality, intelligence, sports, aesthetics and laboring and be qualified for engineering technology, producing management, quality control, R&D as senior engineer.
Objective 1:[Foundations]:To provide the students with a solid background in basic theory of chemistry, chemical engineering materials, also in fundamental principles, methods and means of basic knowledge for Pulping and Papermaking Engineering. To cultivate students who can be familiar with the current situation, advanced technology and developments of  the industry. After having the training of experimental skills, engineering practice, computer application, scientific research and engineering design methods, students can put basic theory into concrete practice.
Objective 2:[Professional Knowledge]:To foster students’ ability to analyze and solve problems in the industrial field and to be skilled not only in manual work but also in creative consciousness.
Objective 3:[Teamwork/Leadership]: To teach students how to communicate and cooperate with others effectively, for the purpose of cultivating their  great leadership and capacity of management in the field of Light Chemistry Engineering (Pulping and Papermaking).
Objective 4:[Engineered Systems]: Through studying raw-material selection, process design, model selection, process management of pulping and papermaking, technical& economic analysis, students will get deeper comprehension of the composition and function of pulping and papermaking system. After generating strong cognition and handling enough skills, they will make great contribution to the whole industry.
Objective 5:[Societal Impact]: Introduce students to the idea that the development and application of light industry engineering are important in our daily life , cultural diffusion, environmental protection and even human civilization progress.
Objective 6:[Global Awareness]: To train the students to have international vision and awareness of global competition to competitively and responsibly work in global environment and serve for the globe.
Objective 7:[Lifelong Learning]: Graduates can work in government departments, enterprises, research and education institutes, and are qualified to work  in engineering technology, quality control, product development, commodity inspection, economics trade, business management, education and training work. Students should have the ability of self-learning and life-long learning..
Speciality Features:
The speciality, which belongs to the national key subject-Light Chemistry Engineering, is national characteristic, famous in Guangdong province and highly emphasized, always rank first in the country. The National Key Laboratory of Pulping and Papermaking and The National Engineering Research Center are located here. The speciality has a long history for nearly 50 years and lots of famous professors are working here. The leaders always emphasize and support students’ scientific research and the cultivation of their engineering practice and international communication As a result, our graduates are highly skilled no matter in scientific or industrial field.
Educational Requirement:
Educational Requirement: Each course has a matching aim that is to make the students get the corresponding knowledge, ability and quality. Students will learn the basic theory and knowledge about chemical ingredient, organization structure, performance, processing and application of plant fiber. After getting professional training (professional courses, professional experiments and engineering training, practice training. etc) as well as fundamental education, quality and creative training, students will have the ability to analyze and solve problems.
