Educational Objectives:
To teach the students to love the country, to obey the law, to study in a critical way, to have good moral characters and health, and be able to meet the requirements economy development of socialist market
Objective 1:  To cultivate students who can master solid specialized basic principle, means and tools etc, to provide every access for them to be familiar with the biomass separation, biobased products preparation, bioenergy, and other actual operation skills, to help them be well prepared to employ their basic knowledge to the practice of resources science and engineering. 
Objective 2: To cultivate the students who can use the basic principle of resource science and engineering to solve the problems in the practice and industrial requirements in a creative way. 
Objective 3: To cultivate students’ communication and cooperation abilities and leadership in the teamwork, when conduct practice of resource science and engineering.
Objective 4: To cultivate students’ awareness that the ability of research of Biobased products and develop of new bioresources, engineering design and technology management is a important component of design and equipment of biobased materials and bioenergy engineering system which is to service our society and the world.
Objective 5: To cultivate students’ correct view on the choice and application of biomass resource on the potential impact of daily life of people, the economic structure of business and industry and the health of human beings.
Objective 6: To cultivate students’ awareness of undertaking their duties competitively and responsibility.
Objective 7: The graduates are expected to become high-quality personnel of technology and engineering and to serve the socialist construction actively. The graduates will be capable to engage in the exploration, management and planning of comprehensive development and utilization of resources of the country. They can also engage in the work of the management, teaching, research, engineering, technology development, new product development and quality control in many enterprises, research institutes and universities in the field of energy, chemicals, materials, medicine, light industry, and other resources. The graduates of Resource Science and Engineering are capable of every kind of career path, and have the ability of lifelong learning.
Specialty Features:
This specialty is an important part of the training system for high-level professional personnel of national key disciplines which emphasizes the training of high-level professional personnel toward the 21st century. Its curriculum focuses on the cultivation of students’ abilities to obtain and employ knowledge to solve the practical problems of preparation of materials or new energies from biomass.
This specialty is based on the discipline of Light Industry Engineering, in which there are a lot of excellent teachers plus new high quality teachers, quality teaching and learning environment, plus highlighted teaching characteristics of "industry, academic and research”, all of which are good for the students' study of specialized courses and practice of practical skills. This specialty’s general strength is among the best in the country. 
Educational Requirement:
The objective system of each course is composed of a corresponding set of cultivation purposes, which are the appropriate knowledge, ability and quality that students are supposed to gain.
This specialty cultivates highly qualified engineering and management personnel who meet the demand of socialist modernization, fully develop in moral, intellectual, physical and aesthetic aspects, possess strong knowledge of chemistry, biology, meterialogy and engineering. They should systematically master the relevant theoretical knowledge and technology in the characteristics of biomass, conversation of biomass to materials and energy, possess the basic knowledge and professional skills of scientific research of bioresource processing and development, new product development, engineering design and technology management, have wide range of knowledge, strong ability, and innovative spirit.
