Educational Objectives:
The bioengineering specialty aims to cultivate scientific and technical personnel with comprehensive knowledge, who can keep to the socialist road, adapt to economic, technological, social development, be well developed morally, intellectually and physically and acquire basic training of engineers.
Objective 1: [Foundations] this educational system emphasizes building a solid foundation for the basic principle of competence-oriented education. The students will be required to possess a strong background in the series knowledge of biology, chemical and engineering, and establish the solid foundation of fast-learning ability in pharmaceutics, food and chemical engineering industries.
Objective 2: [Professional Knowledge] with the strong basis of specialized knowledge, the student could provide solution for the production technology, quality control, technical renovation and the manufacturing management in bioengineering field with innovative thinking.
Objective 3: [Teamwork/Leadership] train the student to know the importance of team-work, enhance their cooperative consciousness and their ability of leadership.
Objective 4: [Societal Impact] students should be trained to correctly view the enormous impact of the bio-industry to the daily life and human health.
Objective 5: [Global Awareness] students should be trained to maintain a clear awareness of their duties, and be competitive and responsible in a globalizing environment.
Objective 6: [Lifelong Learning] graduates can mainly engage in technical management and consultation of engineering, and researches related to fields of fermentation, biopharmaceutical and food fermentation. The students can also find jobs in institutes, colleges and universities for teaching or proceeding to the master's degree and/or doctor's degree after their graduation from university, in addition, the student should have the ability of lifelong learning.
Specialty Features:
This specialty is an engineering specialty in biology field. It aims to help the students gain the systemic knowledge of the industrial biotechnology, which cover the features of using cells or components of cells like enzymes to generate industrially useful products,including many biotechnology products like fermentation products, pharmaceutical chemicals, bio-energy, food and feed additives, and enzymes. 
Educational Requirement:
1) The students should have hard-struggle and hard-working spirit, and innovation spirit, as well as good moral characters in loving physical labor, abiding by discipline and law, and cooperation; have certain knowledge of social sciences, humanities and economic management; be equipped with higher cultural quality and healthy psychological quality.
2) Systematically acquire basic knowledge on natural and technological sciences, common law of process for biological product; should have good skills in the development of biological product, and knowledge of process control in the production; learn the relevant knowledge, such as pharmaceutical, food, chemical and management, follow development tendency and application prospect of relevant fields in time.
3) Advocate mutual permeation in the disciplines of arts, science, engineering and business. Emphasize on training students with skill of scientific research and the ability of engineering practice, which aims at making the students acquire the basic knowledge, strong practice capability and high comprehensive quality, as well as cultivating students’ creative consciousness and personality development.
4) Master a foreign language and have good computer knowledge of application ability. Be capable of reading the literature and international journals; master a foreign language with the ability of listening, speaking and writing, as well as the ability in cross-cultural communication and good international perspective.
5) Have self-study ability, self-care ability and some management skills; enjoy the flexibility of his working arrangement.
6) Master the basic skills of sports knowledge and science training, Be physically active on a regular basis: being healthy, and reach qualified standard of physical training of an undergraduate.
