Educational Objectives:
Training students both to master the basic theories of international convention, exhibition, festival and special event and service management and to exercise fundamental practical working ability, and become highly qualified international professional personnel of Economics and Management of Convention and Exhibition.
Objective 1: [Foundations] Train students to have a solid base on professional knowledge of main principles, methods and skills of Economics and Management of Convention and Exhibition, and through mastering the advanced methods, for example, Exhibition Festival activities management, design, services, and evaluation, to get ready for applying the basic knowledge learned to actual convention and management .
Objective 2: [Professional Knowledge] Train students to creatively use the basic principles of convention, exhibition, festival and special event to solve the practical problems and meet market demand.
Objective 3: [Teamwork/Leadership] Train students to have teamwork communication and collaboration capabilities in event project management, and thus be able to have the leadership skills in area of Economics and Management of Convention and Exhibition.
Objective 4: [Perceptibility of Industry Systems] Enable students to recognize that convention, exhibition, festival and special event operation is an important part of convention & exhibition industry operation and management system, and make it serve the society and the world.
Objective 5: [Societal Impact Assessing Abilities] Train students to correctly assess the related impacts of convention, exhibition, festival and special event on the daily life, social & economic development fields.
Objective 6: [Global Awareness] Train students to maintain a clear awareness, as well as the competitive and responsible exercise of their duties in a globalizing environment.
Objective 7: [Lifelong Learning] Enable graduates have basic abilities for performing all kinds of exhibition business, convention and exhibition organizations, conferences and exhibitors of large and medium-sized enterprises sector, the Government Convention and Exhibition Management departments and tourism enterprises Exhibition section or / and departments engaged in the exhibition and festival and event planning and management to the convention and exhibition services and management companies, government and various cultural and public administration, leisure and sports organizations or enterprises, with a life-long learning ability.
Programme Features:
The teaching and learning focus on practice and application. The main features include: (1) training high-class event management talents in the fields of international festival and special event planning, marketing, services and management; (2) training supported and specialized management personnel in the fields of tourism/cultural festivals planning, project management and urban leisure industry services. Graduates are prospected to have the basic skills of convention, exhibition, festivals and special events planning, design and management, and have basic theoretical knowledge, basic research techniques and basic learning ability to pursue master or doctor degree related to tourism management and event tourism.
