The National Recruitment Program of 1000 Global Youth Experts for SCUT
1. Applications from the following applicants are preferred:
(1)Research fields of Science or Engineering, generally under the age of 40;
(2)3-continuous-year overseas research experience after having obtained the doctorate from well-known overseas university; The one who obtained the doctorate from domestic university should have more than 5 years research or teaching experience;
(3)Having obtained official teaching or research position of well-known overseas universities or scientific research institutions or enterprises’ RD department;
(4)Working full-time in SCUT;
(5)Top-notch talents of peers, having a potential to being academic leaders or technical leaders in the research field.
Graduates who has achieved prominent accomplishment during Doctoral period, or the one who has outstanding achievement could be recruited without overstressing qualifications.
 
2. Supporting Benefits
(1)Research Supporting Funds: The university provides research supporting funds in 5 years for the talented people to be recruited. 600 thousand yuan RMB will be provided for research in human sciences, 800 thousand yuan RMB for economics and management, 1 million yuan RMB for basic research in science and engineering, 1.5 million yuan RMB for applied research in science and engineering.
(2)Salary: Annual salary of 300 thousand yuan RMB (before tax) will be provided.
(3)Housing Benefits: The university either provides 300 thousand yuan RMB (before tax) for house purchasing and 200 thousand yuan RMB (before tax) of settling-in allowance; or provides one rent apartment to the appointee at a price conforming to relevant policies of the university.
(4)Medical treatment: Enjoy university’s free medical care as peers, their children could also enjoy medical care in accordance with regulations of the university staff’s children.
 
SCUT Recruitment Program of Outstanding Talents and Innovative Research Teams
I. Post Specification for Outstanding Talents
1. Applications from the following applicants are preferred:
(1)First level talents: Members of Chinese Academy of Science or Chinese Academy of Engineering, under the age of 65;
(2)Second level talents: Professors of Chang Jiang Scholar Program, winners of the National Science Fund for Outstanding Young Scholars, National Distinguished Teachers, senior scholars in humanities and social sciences, professors or associate professors from prestigious overseas universities, high-level researchers from overseas high-end research institutions or centers, high-level research talents from famous overseas enterprises, under the age of 50. For senior scholars in humanities and social sciences, the preferred age requirement is under 55.
(3)Third level talents: Outstanding young scholars with a good academic background in the discipline and with high academic achievements broadly recognized at home and abroad, under the age of 40 generally, and meet the following requirements:
(i) Arriving or exceeding the average academic level of high professional title faculty and introduced talents, having ability to lead a research team and obtain innovation achievements;
(ii) Having achieved international level Research Results in the discipline, published papers in important core journals, mastering the key technology or obtained authorized patents about important technology;
(iii) Overseas talents should have 3-year research experience continuously overseas after Ph.D; Domestic talents should be young scholars including winners of CAS’s 100 Talents Recruitment Program, winners of Ministry of Education's New Century Excellent Talents Supporting Plan, winners of National Top100 Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Award.
2. Applicants should also meet the following requirements:
(1)Observing laws and disciplines, honest and trust-worthy, with sound work ethics;
(2)Having excellent interpersonal and communicational skills;
(3)Working full-time in SCUT.
 
II. Post Specification for Innovative Research Teams
Recruitment of Innovative Teams is open to research teams with research abilities at nationally and internationally advanced level or at leading national level. Team applicants should meet the following requirements:
1. The research fields of the innovative team are to be related to edge-cutting issues in scientific and technological research or key fields listed in the national medium and long-term program for the development of science and technology.
2. The innovative team should have a sound research basis in line with the development of disciplines at SCUT.
3. Leaders or core members of the team should have been cooperating for more than 3 years in domestic or overseas research institutions or in significant projects. The research team members should have made outstanding achievements or revealed distinct innovative competence.
4. The discipline structure and age composition of team members are to be reasonably arranged.
 
III. Fringe Benefits
1. For Talented People:
(1)Research Supporting Funds:
SCUT provides research supporting funds in 5 years for the talented people to be recruited as follow:
A. First level talents:
1.5~2.5 million yuan RMB will be provided for research in human sciences or economics and management, 3~5 million yuan RMB will be provided for basic research in science and engineering, 6~10 million yuan RMB for applied research in science and engineering.
B. Second level talents:
1~1.5 million yuan RMB will be provided for research in human sciences or economics and management, 2~3 million yuan RMB will be provided for basic research in science and engineering, 3~6 million yuan RMB for applied research in science and engineering.
C. Third level talents:
300 thousand yuan RMB will be provided for research in human sciences, 400 thousand yuan RMB will be provided for economics and management, 500 thousand yuan RMB will be provided for basic research in science and engineering, 700 thousand yuan RMB for applied research in science and engineering.
(2)Housing Benefits:
SCUT provides housing benefits for house purchasing or rents apartments to the appointee at a price conforming to relevant policies of the university as follow:
A. First level talents:
800 thousand yuan RMB (tax included) for house purchasing and 300 thousand yuan RMB (tax included) of settling-in allowance.
B. Second level talents:
600 thousand yuan RMB (tax included) for house purchasing and 200 thousand yuan RMB (tax included) of settling-in allowance.
C. Third level talents:
300 thousand yuan RMB (tax included) for house purchasing and 150 thousand yuan RMB (tax included) of settling-in allowance.
(3)Offices and Laboratories: The school or the department gives priority to the arrangement of the offices and laboratories for the appointee.
(4)Supporting Assistants: For the first three categories of talented people to be recruited (see “Post Specification for Outstanding Talents”), research assistants will be arranged so as to help the appointees establish research teams.
(5)For the newly recruited talented people, the university will help their children get enrolled in primary or secondary schools and allocate jobs for their spouses. For high-level overseas  talents, the university will provide insurance and medical care according to relevant regulations.
2. For Innovative Research Teams:
(1)Research Supporting Funds: On the basis of the reality, SCUT provides research supporting funds for innovative research teams. 1.5 to 3 million RMB will be provided for research in human sciences or economics and management, 5 to 12 million RMB will be provided for basic research in science and engineering, 8 to 20 million RMB for applied research in science and engineering.
(2)The leaders or core members of the team will enjoy relevant benefits according to the qualifications of the talented people listed above. For other members of the team, the university offers a benefit package according to regulations.
 
IV. Applicants should present the following materials:
1. A curriculum vitae and qualification documents including research projects undertaken, a detailed list of publications and awards won in the recent 5 years.
2. A research plan for academic work at SCUT.
3. Applicants for the positions of “outstanding young scholars” should provide three letters of recommendation from experts, and overseas talents should provide at least 2 letters of recommendation from overseas experts. The letters should specify the position, phone number and email address of the recommender as well as the relations between the recommender and the applicant.
4. With the approval of the related school or department, applicants should fill in the application form of the Recruitment Program for Outstanding Talents or Recruitment Program for Innovative Research Teams.
