The 14th China Education Exhibition was held in Jakarta, Indonesia, on November 26, when SCUT held a promotion session at the exhibition to recruit international students.

SCUT, along with other 26 Chinese universities including Tsinghua University, Fudan University, Zhejiang University, and Shanghai Jiao Tong University, comprised a delegation of China’s higher education to pay the visit to Indonesia.

The education exhibition was an important item on the agenda of the visit, an effort to expand China’s influence in education outside the country and serve the Belt and Road Initiative.

The exhibition was organized by the Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange. China’s Vice-Premier Liu Yandong and Minister of Education Chen Baosheng were present, with Liu Yandong inaugurating the opening for the event.

Indonesia is a major source country of international students at SCUT, which currently hosts over 180 Indonesian students on campus.

The promotion in Jakarta provided full details and enquiry services on issues such as admission requirements, application procedure, information of academic programs and scholarships, as well as employment prospects.

SCUT also had alumni who live locally travelling to the exhibition to serve as volunteers. By telling their own stories at SCUT, they gave impressive talks that appealed to local students and parents.
