[Abstract]
Determinants are widely used in mathematics and physics. In early 80s, the concept has been generalized to quantum semigroups by Sklyanin, Jimbo and Drinfeld. We will review how quantum determinants are defined and then move on to their multiparameter generalization and report recent progress in quantum invariant theory, in particular, a quantum Capelli identity was discovered on the multiparameter quantum linear groups.
