The 5th Seminar on Sino-Dutch Urban Systems and Environment (USE) was held at SCUT on Dec. 21. At the opening ceremony, vice presidents Peter A. Wieringa and ZHU Min, respectively on behalf of Technology University of Delft (TU Delft) and SCUT,  signed a collaborative doctor-training agreement, which was the first dual doctoral degree agreement that TU Delft signed with a non-EU university.
According to the agreement, two students from School of Architecture and School of Materials Science and Engineering will be the first batch of beneficiaries of that collaborative doctor-training program. In July, 2011, TU Delft and SCUT signed an agreement on an exchange student program and implemented it soon after the signing.
During the two-day seminar, over 60 teachers and students at home and abroad discussed about the key topic "complicated urban systems and the integrated solutions."
Attendees of the opening ceremony also included vice president YU Qijun, assistants to the president ZHANG Ming and SU Cheng, Dean of School of Technology, Policy and Public Administration of TU Delft Theo Toonen, heads of departments of SCUT, Professor SUN Yimin, Professor Vincent Nadin and other representatives of teachers and students.
