UI leaders pay a visit to SCUT

The 2nd council meeting of CI, UI Visiting School of International Education
On Dec. 4, president of University of Idaho (UI) Chuck Staben and his wife, two deans of Confucius Institute (CI), and two deans of Graduate School and School of Humanities and Social Sciences paid a visit to SCUT. President WANG Yingjun and vice president ZHU Min met the six guests at the Shaw Science Building. Both sides agreed to expand new fields of cooperation and encourage diversified forms of exchanges between relevant schools, such as exchanges between teachers and students and research collaboration.
Chuck Staben and other guests also attended the 2nd council meeting of CI, UI held at SCUT and listened to the work report of 2014 and work plan of 2015.
During the visit, accompanied by president assistant WU Yechun, the six guests visited School of Biological Science and Engineering, School of International Education, School of Journalism and Communication, and School of Arts. They also visited the Laboratory of Photoelectric Semiconductor Materials and Devices, listened to the report of Prof. LI Guoqiang and discussed cooperation issues with relevant schools.
This CI, established in April 2013 with concerted efforts of SCUT and UI, is SCUT’s second CI abroad. And Mr. Chuck Staben’s visit to SCUT this time is the third president-level exchange between the two universities.
